Come see what makes Cardome Renaissance Centre a timeless treasure!
Cardome Renaissance Centre includes community entities that focus on the fine arts. Cardome houses two main academies that provide community classes specific to the fine arts. One of these academies, The Music Academy, provides voice lessons, community choral groups, and hosts piano recitals and other musical performances. The other academy, The Art Academy, provides community art classes for all age groups, as well as, seeks to provide opportunities to bring the community together through the arts by hosting art showcases, festivals and symposiums. The grounds, rich in natural beauty, allow ample inspiration and opportunity for both of the academies to thrive. The goal of these academy classes is a showcasing of the arts for the broader community by hosting fine arts events where artisans can display their works and talents.
Cardome Renaissance Centre proudly partners with community theater groups which actively work on projects that involve a diverse group of ages and talents. Cardome Renaissance Centre provides a “home” for theater groups, offering them ample space to work on productions, rehearse and design sets. The expertise of the music and art academies and their purposes cross over as an asset to theater groups by having an active role in their projects, as well as, bringing more community interest to their productions through their students. Cardome Renaissance Centre has desirable accommodations for theater productions both in the indoor buildings, as well as, the outdoor spaces, with future plans to include an amphitheater on the Cardome Campus.
Cardome’s history is unique and rich, and has inspired our vision for the future of Cardome. Operating as a vibrant place of learning, Car-dome originally established itself as the home of the all-girls’ boarding school, Visitation Academy which was in operation for more than 60 years under the care of the Sisters of the Visitation who also ran their monastery on the grounds . During this time, Cardome flourished as a place where higher learning and fine arts were show-cased. It is the “Academy Years” which call out to us to resurface and revive the educational, religious and fine arts seeds planted long ago. The grounds of Cardome perfectly lend them-selves to establish a center where things for-gotten and treasured histories find a home, a “cara domus”. A bridge from past to future that appreciates that in our world today, there is in-deed a place for the ideas, stories and arts of yesterday, as we preserve their presence, as well as, learn their value in striving for excellence in the future.
As we continue to establish Cardome Renaissance Centre as a place where fine arts flourishes, it is our goal to expand our venture to include a fully accredited educational academy on Cardome Campus. The Cardome property calls out to be a place of learning and will provide a unique educational opportunity for our commu-nity. The academy will be rich in Fine Arts, Classical Education and Humanities, taking on the objective of high character and citizenship. There are endless opportunities for our Centre to grow and flourish beyond what we are today. With the help of generous friends and donors, Cardome Renaissance Centre seeks to revive and enhance the arts through unique and diverse opportunities to educate, encourage and share works of infinite value.
